Beach or Boat Diving |
Cool and maybe damp weather is not uncommon, so bring "layers." If you plan on boating, long-sleeves and long-legs are a must, as well as a jacket. But bring a backpack with shorts in case global warming kicks into gear and the temperature rises. If you plan on fishing, bring clothing that can get dirty. Remember, there's no RITZ in Seldovia, so no need for heels or cumberbunds. Be Casual and be Relaxed. But remember, Seldovia has 4 (and sometimes more) seasons, often in the same day! |

Seldovia's magnificent scenery includes three sometimes-active volcanoes. Augustine, Iliamna and Redoubt are all visible from Outside Beach. Alaska Volcano Observatory is a source of up-to-date information on current volcano activity in the Alaska area. Iliamna is visible from the Seldovia harbor and presents an inspiring view in the early dawn. NASA is also into the volcano viewing business above Cleveland Volcano in the Aleutian chain. |
